Eugene was the son of Daniel Wickham Colburn and Emeline A. Archibold born May 22 1942 in Collins, Erie County, New York he served in the Civil War for the United States in Company G, 8th Regiment of United States Infantry in 1861 and Company L, 10th Regiment of New York Cavalry in 1862-1865.
He married Mary J. Percival about 1863
He married 2nd Jennie E. Kelley about 1874 having one son Arthur D. Colburn born Feb 14, 1876 in Buffalo, New York.
His third marriage was to Ada J Joyner on Oct 29 1882 in Big Rapids, Mecosta County, Michigan, United States.
They had three children:
- Clayton Eugene born Oct 11 1884 in Reed City, Mecosta County, Michigan.
- Lulu May 11 1887 in South Dakota.
- Maud Emily born Feb 22 1891 in Wisconsin.
Eugene died only a few short months before his wife on Mar 22 1893 from consumption (TB).
