Funeral services are pending at Denton Funeral Home for John William Day, 90, 2307 W. Church St., who died Wednesday at the local hospital.

Born in Iowa, Day was later raised in Nebraska. He served in World War I and farmed in Iowa, Nebraska and Idaho. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #158 in Springtown, Colo., the American Legion, and Veterans of World War I.

Contributions may be made to the Lakeview Christian Home.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Day, Carlsbad; two sons, Donald Baker, Carlsbad and George Baker, Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Wilma Scott, Carlsbad and Mary Looper, Shenandoah, Ark.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for John William Day, 90, Carlsbad have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in Denton Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. He died Wednesday. Dewey Fogerson, of Fox and Lake Church of Christ, will officiate the services.

Day's grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be the Veterans of World War I. The Lodge of Sorrows will convene at the Masonic Temple at 1:15 p.m.
