Funeral services for Mrs. John Detlie, who passed away at her home 318 N. Water street on Sunday, March 20, following an illness of several months duration were held Wednesday, March 23. The Rev. B. J. Blikstad of Dennison officiated at 2:00 p.m. at the Zanmiller Funeral Home. Burial was made in the cemetery at the Wangs Lutheran church, east of Dennison. Pallbearers were sons and sons-in-law of the deceased.
Christine Wasley was born on May 1, 1878 at Opedal, Norway, the daughter of John and Maret Wasley. She was married to John Detlie in Norway on October 6, 1896 and they came to the United States in 1904. They made their home in the Dennison and Wangs community until 1940 when they moved to Northfield, which has since been their home. Five daughters and eight sons were born to them. There are also 29 grrandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by one sister Mrs. Olaf Olson of Thief River Falls. Mrs. Detlie is survived by her husband and the children including Mrs. Oliver Machacek (Ingeborg), Mrs. Ed Johnson (Georginne), Carl, Arthur, Oscar and Julius all of Northfield; Thorlief and Rudolph of Inver Grove; Mrs. John Ryan (Marie) of Farmington; Martin of Red Wing; Mrs. Frederick Nelson (Clara) of Ontario, Calif.; Mrs. Charles Nelson (Florence) of River Pines, Calif.; and Henry of Oakland, Calif.
