She was a graduate of Geneva high school in the class of 1957.
January 1, 1958, she was united in marriage to Robert Lee Ackland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earle T. Ackland, at the Methodist church in Geneva. Three sons came to bless this happy home, Steven Robert, age 8; Daniel Lee, age 6; and Gene Thomas, age 19 months.
The family lived on a farm north of Geneva, where Phyllis enjoyed outdoor life and was a real partner in all the activities of the farm.
She made and enjoyed many friends. Recently she became a member of the Rebekah lodge, which she enjoyed. She was an active member of the Methodist church, giving much of her time and enthusiasm to the Sunday school and the service projects of the Woman’s Society.
She leaves to mourn her untimely passing her husband, Robert; Three small sons, Steve, Dan and Gene; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vergil Reichert; one brother, Robert V. Reichert, his wife Lucianne, and three sons of York; a grandmother, Mrs. Ruth E. Kinder of Geneva; and her husband’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ear. T. Ackland; a brother-in-law Lawrence Ackland and wife Betty and their three children of Franklin; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Kucera and her husband, John and three sons of Phoenix, Ariz.
Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church of Geneva at 2 p. m. Saturday, October 28. Rev. K. Orlando Lee officiated. Sheldon Johnson sang “My God and I” and “Beautiful Garden of Prayer.” Mrs. Johnson was accompanist. Pallbearers were Hubert Johnson, Ross Johnson, Rex Montgomery, Jesse Richards, Gary Richards and Don Ward. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
