Daughter of Sampson Stanfield and Ester Merritt.
She married John JR Lewis Sears, Feb 15, 1819 in Whitley County Kentucky. The family went back and forth to Orange County Indiana. John died May 18, 1841 in Orange TWP, Orange County Indiana and is buried in Green Hills Cemetery, Orange County Indiana.

Sears Researchers have made the mistake of making her the wife of John S Sears because her name is Mary "Elizabeth". Her death record says she is the wife of John Sears (with no middle initial or name) and that John S Sears is also buried in the Sears family farm. Mary was in Kentucky when she died and that is why she is buried here on the Sears Farm instead of in Indiana. She is the wife of John Lewis Sears, not John Simmon Sears. These 2 John Sears were First Cousins.

There are three seperate grave sites on the Old James Sears Farm, one is accross the road on a steep hill.
Mary's grave might be one of the 10 or so unmarked graves in the back area graves near James and Anna Meek Sears.
