Doris Elaine Coauette, 87, of Crookston, Minnesota, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday evening, December 21, 2010 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.

Doris was born on April 15, 1923, at Crookston, the daughter of Frank and Georgine (Bilden) LaPlante. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and was raised on the family farm. Doris attended country school and later enrolled at Aakers Business School in Fargo, North Dakota. On October 27, 1951, she was united in marriage to Harvey T. Coauette at Crookston, where the couple lived all of their married lives. Doris kept busy raising her six children and running the household. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and going for long walks. Doris will be remembered for her wonderful homemade cookies and brownies.

She was a long-time member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish and belonged to a church circle group. Sadly, Harvey passed away on June 10, 2003. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and her memory will be cherished by all who shared in her life.

Loving family members include her children, Mary Jo (James) Wallace of Euclid, MN, Dennis (Sherry) Coauette and Gary (Laurie) Coauette all of Crookston, MN, David (Louise) Coauette of Apple Valley, MN, Nancy (Lowell) Brandner of East Grand Forks, MN, and Laurie (Steve) Erickson of Crookston; eighteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Francis LaPlante of Mentor, MN; sisters-in-law, Edith Coauette, Rosemary LaPlante, and Delores LaPlante, all of Crookston; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Besides her husband, Harvey, Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Georgine LaPlante; and siblings, Virgil, Robert and Willis LaPlante, and Betty Kuznia.

The funeral service for Doris Coauette will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, with the Very Rev. Bob Schreiner, presiding. Visitation will be on Sunday at the church from 5-7:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service and also for an hour before the funeral.

Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Crookston.
