Maggie Yoder, 91, Goshen, died at her residence 1:50 a.m. Wed., Dec., 22, 2010. She was born Aug. 29, 1919 in Shipshewana to Daniel E. & Magdalena (Bontrager) Yoder. At Maple Grave Mennonite Church, Topeka, with the groom's father officiating, she married Gerald J Yoder on March 3, 1940. He survives.

Also surviving are daughters, Wilmetta (Norman) Maust, Goshen, Wealtha (David) Helland, Rockford, Ill., Waneta (Stephen) Riegsecker, Middlebury, sons, Warren (Janet) Yoder, Wesley (Ruthie) Yoder, both of Goshen, sisters, Mary (Alvin) Bontrager & Lucille Blue, both of Goshen, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are brothers, John E. & Orva Yoder and sisters, Ida & Alta Yoder, Catherine Miller, Elma Stauffer and Ruby Wyse.

She was a member of the Waterford Mennonite Church and served with the Women's Sewing Circle. Maggie was a wonderful cook and guests were always welcomed to the home. She was a lady of compassion and when she saw a need she gave of her time and filled the need as she was able. Maggie was a tireless worker and partnered with her husband on their farm. She milked the cows twice a day until she was 69 and the cows were sold. She still helped feed the other cattle for years after that. When she was 86 they sold the farm and moved to Greencroft because her advancing Parkinsons Disease made it necessary for her to give up her role of caring for others and having Gerald care for her.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thurs. Dec. 23, 2010 at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen and the service will be at 11 a.m. Fri., Dec. 24, 2010 at Waterford Mennonite Church, 65975 SR 15, Goshen. Pastor Neil Amstutz & Deacon Norman Maust will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Topeka. Memorials may be directed to the Women's Ministries at Waterford Mennonite Church.
