He was a graduate of Chisholm High School and was a lifelong Chisholm resident.
Robert was united in marriage to Mary Lou Nelson on March 3, 1945. He worked for Pittsburgh Pacific Mining Co., Northwoods Ford and E. H. Lawrence. He was a World War II veteran merchant marine serving with the Coast Guard in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. He was a member of the Chisholm Moose No. 226 and the Press-Lloyd American Legion Post No. 247.
Survivors include his sister, Marjorie Pugh; aunt, Mary Katalinich; children, Constance (Terry) Timper; Robert (Barb Fiorini) Jackula; Deborah Jackula; four granddaughters, Tonnya (James) Bivins, Amy (Shawn) Barber, Sally Jackula (Clint) Tesmer, and Maggie Jackula; great-grandchildren, Natasha and Nikolai Bivins, and Kalina, Brielle, and Silvia Tesmer, and Justin Robert Barber.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and the love of his life, his wife Mary Lou.
Inurnment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
