John W. Beach, 80, who lived in Le Mars since 1947, died unexpectedly on Thanksgiving day at his home, 301 6th Ave. SW.

He was born Sept. 2, 1897, near Spink, S.D., to Joseph and Elizabeth Beach. He lived there as a child then moved to Akron and later to Brunsville. He moved in Le Mars in 1974 and had worked until his retirement as a general laborer.

He was preceded in death by his four wives, Sarah Davis in 1936; Doris Pearson, 1942; Gladieth Franke, 1948 and Rita Duxberry, 1967. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Marlowe and Delbert.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mauer funeral chapel with Rev. Ray Jennings of the Nazarene church in Le Mars officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Survivors are four sons, John W. Beach, Jr., Le Mars; Robert Leo Lux, California; Gary Lee Beach, Emmettsburg, and Michael Beach, Des Moines; three daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Darlene) VanVoorst and Mrs. Leslie (Eilene) Sanow, both of Le Mars and Mrs. Forrest (Dorothy) Martin, Rock Rapids; 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
