W.H. Tucker, an aged pioneer citizen of Wellington and Sumner county, died at his home, 314 East Harvey, last night. Mr. Tucker is well known among the older citizens here, and at the time of his death had almost reached the 80th milestone of his life. The funeral services were held this afternoon at the residence. Rev. Goudy of the Congregational church officiated. Burial was in Prairie Lawn. William H. Tucker was born April 23, 1837, in Kentucky. Thirty-two years ago he moved to Wellington, and was running the Philleps House at the time of the cyclone twenty-one years ago.He was a genial, jolly old man and his death is mourned by many Wellington residents. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Janie Tucker, and two sons, Oscar and Thomas. Mr. Tucker was a very prominent in the pioneer life of this city. Source: The Peoples Voice, July 20 1916. Page 1
