Cornie Allen, 85, of Berea, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 1, 1918, in Owsley County, the son of the late Lewis "Tack" and Lucy Allen. He was retired from Muncie Buick in Winchester after 18 years of dedicated sales service. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Alice Allen; three sons, Kirby (Karen) Allen of Versailles, Mike (Johnna) Allen of Berea and Toney (Jennifer) Allen of Berea; two sisters, Julie Middleton of Florence and Eva Deaton of Beattyville; five grandchildren, Kim (Glen) Hartley of Versailles, Kary (Stacy) Allen of Lexington, and Cameron, Brianna and Ty Allen of Berea; and three great-grandchildren, Mathew, Kayla and Drake Allen of Versailles. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hershel and Jessie Allen; and three sisters, Flo Gay, Sarah Williams and Oma Scott. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Davis and Powell Funeral Home in Berea with Rev. George Waddle and Rev. Kale Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Bill Allen, Lawrence Allen, Dick Gay, Kary Allen, Cameron Allen, Mathew Hartley and Allan Legear.
