THE DEATH OF LOUIS BROWN
Louis Brown, one of the best known and highly esteemed German citizens of Tippecanoe county, died at 9:45 o'clock this morning from the infirmities of age at his home three miles south of the city. He had been in a feeble condition for six months. He was born in the village of Ensberg, Wurtemberg, Germany, November 25, 1832. He came to the United States when he reached the age of maturity. He reached New York city on August 28, 1853, and for a time secured employment in Hoboken, NJ. He came to Lafayette in 1857 and was married that year to Mary Groschaus. After their marriage Mr and Mrs Brown tented a farm. He was very successful as a farmer and acquired a large amount of land. He was a man of splendid character, and was held in high regard by all who knew him. His wife died last June. Mr Brown was a member of the Lutheran Church, to whose work and collateral benevolence he contributed liberally. He was a republican in politics. Mr Brown was conservative in business affairs and was industrious and at all times displayed a wise economy. He had a wide acquaintance throughout Wea township and had many friends. He leaves the following children: John L, Miss Anna Brown, Mrs Edward Daughterty, Mrs Elizabeth Hinkle, Miss Mary Brown and Mrs George Kidwell, all of this county. The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon from the family residence, three miles south of the city. Rev George Schumm will officiate with interment in the Fink cemetery.
