Cornelius H. Bogaard, son of Herman Bogaard and Gysbertje Ver Steeg, was born on a farm near Pella, Iowa, on February 18, 1883. He passed away at the home of his son on Saturday, October 25, 1952, having attained the age of 69 years, 8 months and 7 days. He was united in marriage to Nellie Van Reulde February 25, 1904. To this union were born Henry and Herman. Mr. Bogaard professed his faith in Christ as his Savior August 21, 1909. He was elected deacon on February 3, 1915 and on February 18, 1920, he was elected to the office of elder. He was a man of many talents which he used gladly and efficiently in the service of his Lord. He served as vice-president of the consistory for many years as classical agent of the minister's fund. He served with distinction and honor. He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Henry. He is survived by his son, Herman and seven grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Arie Bogaard of Pella, Nicholas Bogaard of Des Moines, Jacob Bogaard of Pella, Herman Bogaard of Flandreau, S. D., Grace, Mrs. Luke H. Vander Linden of Pella, Marie, Mrs. Ben Dawson of California and Joseph Bogaard of Chicago. Blessed in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1952 at 12:45 from the Van Dyk Funeral Home and at 2 p. m. from the Ebenezer Reformed church with the Rev. Gradus A. Aalberts officiating.
