WINDER, Ga. - Mr. John D. Eagerton, Sr., 86, of Winder, Ga., passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Barrow Community Hospital. Born in Effingham, he was a son of the late Robert R. and Amelia Moore Eagerton. Mr. Eagerton was
preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Lonie Pierce Eagerton, in 2004. A resident of Winder since 1968, he was a retired agent with The Railway Express Agency. Mr. Eagerton served with the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre during
World War II and was a member of the Winder First Baptist Church, where he was a long-time member of the Collins Sunday School Class, and currently was a member of the Steadfast Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home, with Dr. John E. Talley officiating. Interment will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service
time Saturday. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.
Surviving are children and spouses, David and Rose Marie Eagerton of Aiken, Robert and Sharon Eagerton of Indianapolis, Linda and Whit Russell of Jefferson City, Tenn., and Steve and Pam Eagerton of Suwanee, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Carter Funeral Home of Winder, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
