Edna E. Rakoci, 5 Oakhill Drive, West Middlesex, died at 10:46 a.m. Saturday (12-18-10) in Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Hospice, Butler, after a six-month illness. She was 81.

Mrs. Rakoci was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Sharon to Robert and Edna Davis Buchanan, both of whom are deceased.

She attended Sharon schools and married John T. Rakoci on Jan. 20, 1946; he preceded her in death Dec. 11, 1976.

Edna and her husband were charter members of Church of the Good Shepherd in West Middlesex, where she was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society for more than 50 years. Other memberships included the Croatian Home, Farrell; and the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Unit 160, also Farrell, for more than 50 years.

Edna's pastimes were colored pencil sketching, word search puzzles, embroidering and baking.

Surviving are: a daughter, Susan E. Rapp and her husband Jeffrey, Butler, with whom she made her home during the past several months; two sons, John W. Rakoci and his wife Patty, Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.; and Tom E. Rakoci and Suzie, Mercer; three sisters, Norma R. Banjak, Hermitage; Vivian Pearce, Butler; and Audrey Carlgren and her husband Isaac, Ely, Nevada; and a brother, James Buchanan and his wife Sherry, Mercer.

There are two granddaughters, Natalie and Audra; and three great-grandsons, Camron, Scott and Dominic.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric R. Lawton; two sisters, Thelma Buchanan and Evelyn Gelesky; and four brothers, Stanley, William, Robert and Russell.

Service: Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday (12-21-10) in Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Road, West Middlesex, with Monsignor Robert M. Malene, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial: Next to her husband, John, in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
