Boy killed when friend Stumbled Against a Gun, Causing It to Fire. Information reached here last Friday of the accidental killing of Bailey Carpenter, a fourteen-year-old boy, east of Ferris Thursday morning. The unfortunate boy was the son of John Carpenter, a well to do farmer living near Ferris. He and another boy were camping in the river bottom clearing land and had their guns with them. Thursday morning just after getting up young Carpenter's companion stumbled and struck the hammer of the gun with his feet, causing the gun to discharge. The load entered the boy's head, producing instant death. The funeral services were held at Ferris.
