72 Year Old Man Walks Ten Miles to See 21st Child
GRANT REDFERN, 72 year old prosperous farmer from the Shady Grove community, is the proud father of his 21st child, born Tuesday night, Feb. 13. His wife, who is 43, reported doing fine. This is her 11th child, being Mr. Redfern's second wife. Early Wednesday morning, Mr. Redfern left his home in Shady Grove to walk ten miles to Tahlequah to see his new child. This is undoubtedly one of the largest families in Oklahoma.

Funeral services for ' U.S. Grant Redfearn, 89, were Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel here with Reverend Henry Watkins, Steeley Springs Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Greenleaf Cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers.
Born June 18, 1872, in Missouri, he died in a Tahlequah hospital Saturday after a lingering illness. He was a retired stockman-farmer and a resident of Cherokee County 56 years.
Survivors include his wife, Olive of the home near here; seven sons, Elmer of Stayton, Oregon, Oscar of Farmesville, California, Willard of Gilroy, California, Sidney of Hanford, California, Paul of Glendale, Arizona, James of Sand Springs and Silas of Tahlequah; eight daughters, Mrs. Anna Brentley, Mrs. Jewell Wagers, and Mrs. Fannie Fallen, all of Tahlequah, Mrs. Edith Frazier, Modesto, California, Mrs. Edna Nutt, Sand Springs, Mrs. Ruby Evans, Fort Gibson,. Mrs. Effie Hartness, Wichita, Kansas and Mrs. Louise Bradshaw, Broken Arrow; 57 grandchildren and 83 greatgrandchildren.
