John Nelson Clelland, 92, of Peru, Indiana died at 11:59 am on April 16, 1990 at Miller's Merry Manor in Peru, Indiana of generalized pneumonia.

He was born August 18, 1897 in Howard County, Indiana to Wilson T and Laura Etta Dawson Clelland. He had 9 siblings: Berel Ereik, Edith Florence, Homer Hugo, Lawrence Edwin, Mary Ersie, Minnie, Harrison, Elva Adeline, and Male Clelland.

He married Elva M. Niccum on September 2, 1916 in Miami County, Indiana at the age of 19. He worked at the Redmon Basket Company in Peru, Miami County, Indiana. They divorced in June 1928.

He married Clara L Troubaugh in Miami County, Indiana on 23 June 1928. They had 5 children: Ruth Maxine, Robert W, Dorothy, Patty Jo, and Nancy Lauretta. His occupation changed to welder.

He then married Laura M. Wagner. She died in 1987. They had no children.

He was a retired welder from the former Tri-Plex factory in Peru, Indiana.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 am on Thursday at Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy with Pastor Jeffrey Blackburn officiating. Funeral home was the Laird Funeral Home, Amboy.

He was a loving brother, son, father, and grandfather. He will be missed.
