Eveline Boggs Jacaway was born 25 Oct 1848 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Francis Boggs and Evelina Martin Boggs. Eveline's father was called to help settle several different areas. They lived in eighth Ward in Salt Lake City, Springville, Fillmore, Parawan, and finally to Washington, Washington, Utah 7 Dec 1861 in President Ivins Company. They used oxen instead of horses to pull the heavy loads.
Her first home in Washington, Utah was located on a lot covered with huge Sage brush and mesquite bushes, Her father, with the help of the family, soon had it cleared and ready for planting. The first crops consisted of corn, cotton and other gardening.
Her first dresses were made of the cotton they raised. They would pick the cotton, pull the seeds out and she would cord the wool and make it into rolls and her mother would spin it into yarn to be made into cloth.
Eveline was 13 years old when they moved to Washington, Utah. Their first dwelling was mainly for shelter and consisted of a shed built for temporary use. As soon as her father got the crops in, he built a one room rock house and they thought they were living in luxury. The first school she attended was a one room rock building.
A Bowery was made of willows. This was their Church and place of amusement, and many good times were held there.
When they first came they brought with them brooms to do them for a while, when they were gone they used willows for brooms.
She married John Franklin Jacaway 20 Jul 1864 in Salt Lake City, Utah and were later sealed in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City 13 Oct 1873. They lived in Washington, Washington, Utah where thefirst two of her seven children were born. They were living in Kanosh, Millard, Utah in 1870 when Francis Ledora (3rd child) was born. They were living back in Washington when John Franklin Jr, Hyrum and Susan were born. They moved to Hinckley, Millard, Utah. This is where their their last child Edith was born. After their children all married, they moved to Menan, Jefferson, Idaho to be near their daughter Susie who had married Joseph Howard and moved to Menan. They bought a small home and John raised and sold truck garden. Eveline had poor health. Her grandchildren remember her with a big front apron, busy in the evening mending with John reading to her. She made lots of pretty quilts and the most beautiful apple jelly. The grandchildren admired a beautiful flower arangment she made from hair in her bedroom window.
She is the mother of Mary Ann Eveline, Phoebe Letitia, Frances Ledora, John Franklin Jr, Hyrum, Susie and Edith.
She died 27 Apr 1916, and is buried in the annis Little Butte Cemetery, Annis, Jefferson, Idaho.
