Calista Stewart was born near Waterloo, Indiana, Jan. 5, 1863 and passed away at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson, Kans., Feb. 22, 1937 at the age of 74 years, 1 month, and 17 days. When she was 9 years old, her parents came to Bronson, Kansas. She was united in marriage to B.F. Jones on Dec. 30, 1880. To this union were born three children (one died in infancy). She, with her family, came to Turon 43 years ago and resided here until the time of her death. She was a member of the United Brethren Church. She leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters, Mrs. Josie Coats, of Plains, Ks. and Mrs. Clara Haynes, of Wichita, Ks., two brothers, Seth Stewart, Iola, Ks., and Guy Stewart of Bronson, Ks. Seven grandchildren and seven gr-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. (taken from the obit her daughters wrote for the newspaper)

She then went back to using her maiden name and kept it that way in all of her correspondence to her daughters up until the time of her death. Her tombstone reads "Calista Stewart" Mother.
