During his short life, Ray's parents, William and Anna Adelia (Benschoter) Paul, lived in Jackson township of Jasper County, Missouri.
Ray had an older sister, born in 1898, Lois Maybell Paul. There were no other siblings for Ray.
Note: In the family history written by William Henry Van Benschoten in 1907 Concerning the Van Bunschoten or Van Benschoten family in America: a genealogy and brief history on page 268 a death date of March 27, 1906, is shown for Ray. Another family historian, Doris Manning recorded March 28, 1906, although this may have been taken from the date inscribed on Ray's marker. It is entirely possible that one might be his date of death and one his date of burial.
