Service held For Pioneer
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Ella Story, 83, of Eakly, a long-time Caddo County resident, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 24, at the R. L. Lockstone Funeral Home chapel in Weatherford. Rev. C.J. Willis, pastor of the Eakly United Methodist church, officiated.
Mrs. Story died Wednesday August 22, at Memorial Hospital in Thomas. Interment was in the Eakly Cemetery.
She moved to Oklahoma with her parents as a small child and settled in Caddo county. She was married to General Bradley Story August 22, 1905 in Chickasha. They resided on a farm in the county until 1944, when he retired and they moved to Eakly.
She was preceded in death by her husband in March 1949 and four daughters, Nora, Stella, Clara and Jane.
Mrs. Story was a member of the Eakly Assembly of God church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lena Bryant of Terrell, Texas; Mrs. Jack Chapman of Oklahoma City and Mrs. D.L. Snow of Eakly; a son, Lewis, of Riverside, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Daugherty of Shady Point, Mrs. elva Cope of Portersville, Calif. and Mrs. Elma Rushing of Dallas; a brother, Elza Bowling of Terrell, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
