He was born in Tiffin on March 26, 1915, to Clyde and Ella (Hollinger) VanCamp, both deceased. On March 11, 1936, he married Cora Dorothea Ragan in Tiffin, and she survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Thomas VanCamp of Tiffin; two daughters, Robin VanCamp of Tiffin, and Rebecca VanCamp of Kent; a brother, Warren VanCamp of Tiffin; a sister, Beverly Lemon of Tiffin; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a brother, John VanCamp.
Mr. VanCamp was a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High Scool, class of 1935. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He retired from the Advertiser-Tribune and his memberships are as follows: Washington Street United Methodist Church; Tiffin Lodge 77; Seneca Chapter 42; Clinton Council 47; DeMolay Commandery 9; Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo; Seneca County Scottish Rite Association; Zenobia Shrine, Toledo; Tiffin Shrine Club, Chapter 189; Order of Eastern Star; past master of the Blue Lodge, and past patron of Eastern Stars.
The Rev. Larry P. Smith will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service, Saturday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Visitation hours are one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Memorials may be made to Washington Street United Methodist Church; Shrine Hospitals; or Commandary Eye Foundation.
