Nira Tolene Clary, 100, of Ventura, Calif., a former DePue resident for 38 years, died Sept. 20, 1998, in Ventura. Private inurnment was in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley. There was no formal funeral service.
Arrangements were made by the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, Calif.
She was born Sept. 8, 1898, on a farm near Bureau to George and Amelia Wade. She married Clarence Tolene. He died in 1959. In 1960, she married Tom Clary. He died in 1989.
She taught in a one-room school in Illinois, but was a homemaker most of her life. She moved from Fenton, Mich., to Ventura, Calif., in 1971.
Surviving are a daughter, Ordelle Hofmann of Ventura, Calif.; a son, Merrill of Linden, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Jean Ford, in 1981; and 10 sisters and brothers.
