Pembroke - Mrs. Rena Porter, 84, died Thursday at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton after a long illness.

She was a native of Bryan County and a member of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church near Pembroke.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Irene Boggs of Claxton, Mrs. Thelma Berry of Pembroke, Mrs. Matlean Moody of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Cora Lee Shephard of Jamaica, N.Y., and Mrs. Harleist Mack of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sons, L.H. Porter of Miami, Fla., and John C. Porter of Pembroke; three sisters, Mrs. Harriet Owens and Mrs. Leola Rawls, both of Pembroke, and Mrs. Ida Bell McGrit of Savannah; four brothers, John Henry Johnson and Wallace Johnson, both of Pembroke, George Johnson of Lanier and Guesum Johnson of Meldrim; and 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Beautiful Zion Baptist Church near Pembroke, with burial in Salem Cemetery in Groveland.

Harper's Funeral Home of Claxton is in charge.
