Services for Early Settler on Tuesday
Nellie Strode Frost Came to Kansas with Parents in 1875.
Nellie Strode Frost, daughter of John Nelson and Susan Strode, was born January 28, 1870 in Sangamon County, Illinois and passed away at the McNulty Nursing home in Smith Center, Smith county, Kansas on August 27, 1950 at the age of 80 years, 6 months, 29 days.
She came to Kansas with her mother Susan and step father Thomas Clark in 1875 and grow into womanhood here. On July 31, 1897 she was united in marriage to James C. Frost. They moved to a farm in Crystal Plains and Banner townships. In 1937 Mr Frost passed away and in 1938 Mrs Frost moved to Smith Center where she lived until her death.
After moving to Smith Center, Mrs Frost united with the Baptist church. Nellie was a fine neighbor, always industrious. She helped her neighbors all she could and her friends were numbered by her acquaintances.
Mrs Frost leaves to mourn her departure, two sisters, Mrs Addie Prosser and Mrs Annie Allen and half sister, Mrs Arrena Hammond, all of Smith Center, Kansas; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In addition to her husband, Mrs Frost was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Robert Strode.
Funeral services were conducted from Simmons-Olliff mortuary Tuesday morning, August 29, at 10:30 with Rev F.W. Vorphal in charge. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
