Samuel A. Bacon, 91, of Decatur, died at 10 p.m. Wednesday in Adams Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 18, 1917, in Fort Wayne to Samuel J. and Emilie Scharpenberg Bacon.

He married Dorothy P. Wenger on January 19, 1941 in Fort Wayne; she survives.

He worked for 42 years for Indiana and Michigan Power as an assistant engineer in the engineering department and served in the 66th Panther unit of the U. S. Army from 1942-46. He also was a member of American Legion Post 43 in Decatur.

Other survivors are two sons, Ronald K. Bacon (and wife Joan) of Ossian and Samuel L. Bacon (and wife Linda) of Decatur; a brother, Art Bacon (and wife Bonnie) of Coldwater, Michigan; three sisters,, Lorene Conrad and Emily Bacon of New Haven and Mrs. Ernie (Elaine) Pfeiffer of Coldwater, Michigan; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

One sister, Jerry Lichtsinn, is deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Goodwin Memorial Chapal at Bluffton, with burial in Six Mile Cemetery at Bluffton. Visiting hours are until 5 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. today and also from 1-2 p.m. Saturday in Goodwin Memorial Chapel. Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association.
