Sam Varner, widely known merchant of Granby, who operated a candy business in Granby for 51 years, died at his home there Sunday. Mr. Varner was 80 years old. He retired from business some years ago because of failing health.
Funeral services were conducted in the Christian Church of Granby at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon and burial was made in the Granby cemetery. Mr. Varner is survived by his wife and one daughter.

Father of Nana W. (Varner) Sanders and husband Charlie, George W. Varner, & Harley Varner.
Son of Noble W. Varner and Margaret (Ward) Varner.
Sam had a barber in Granby then his wife started serving lunches so they then opened up a cafe then they opened up a candy store.
He died on Sunday at his home after being ill for sometime.
