Services for Veronica Murphy, 80, or rural Fairmont are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Burial is scheduled in Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont.
Mrs. Murphy died Wednesday morning, Feb. 15, 1995, at Abott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. today, Feb. 17, and 8-11 a.m. Saturday at Olson Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to services at the church. There is a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 27, 1914 in Jo Daviess Township, Faribault County, daughter of Mark and Blanche (Dunn) Guerber. She attended country school District #2 and graduated from Good Counsel Academy in Mankato in 1932. She married Wallace Murphy June 9, 1936 at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Blue Earth. They farmed near Winnebago, moving to a farm near Blue Earth in 1942 and to a farm in Rolling Green Township in 1957. Mr. Murphy died Feb. 15, 1975. She continued to live in Rolling Green Township.
She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, active in St. John Vianney Catholic School, member of Catholic Daughters and involved in circle work at the church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Kathy McGowan, of Fairmont; five sons, Edwin Murphy and wife, Charlotte, Mike Murphy and wife Mary, Pat Murphy and wife Prudie, all of Fairmont, Joseph Murphy and wife Linda, of Mt. Ayr, Iowa, Steve Murphy and wife, Bonnie, of Mankato; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin Guerber and wife, Mary Ann, of Peyson, Ariz., Don Guerber and wife, Margaret, of Blue Earth; two sisters, Sister Elaine Guerber of Worthington, Lorraine Allen and husband Jim, of Santa Ana, Calif., three sisters-in-law, Margaret Guerber, and Marion Simser and husband, Kenneth, all of Blue Earth, Genevieve Leach of Albert Lea; one brother-in-law, Willard Murphy, of Guckeen; nieces, nephews, other relatiaves and friends.
She was preceding in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
