She died late Saturday at her home, 2424 Pennsylvania. A shut-in for several years, she had suffered a heart attack early in the week.
Mrs. Markham was the mother of the late Harry W. Maxwell and the late W. K. Maxwell, both former superintendents in the mechanical department of The News. She joined the auxiliary to the printers' union soon after it was organized 40 years ago.
She was born on a plantation near Mandeville, Louisiana, and spent her childhood there and in New Orleans. The family later moved to Galveston.
In 1878 at Palestine, she was married to Warren Forsythe Maxwell. After his death, she was married to Isaiah M. Markham. He died 35 years ago.
Mrs. Markham lived in Dallas for more than 50 years.
Her only survivors are two grandchildren.
