M H Erskine, one of the prominent citizens of Monroe county died on Sunday at his home near Union after an illness of several months and from the infirmities of his advanced age, being 83 years old.
He was born and spent his entire life in that section and was well known to many people of Monroe county.
The deceased leaves eleven children, among them being Mrs J O Ballengee of Huntington. His wife preceded him to the grave about one year ago.
The remains were buried on Monday at the Union Cemetery, many relatives and friends being present at the funeral and burial.
