STAUNTON, VA…

Beverly Gene Hughes, 66, of 101 North Sheets Street, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at his residence.

He was born August 2, 1944, in Neon, Kentucky a son of the late James Harold and Clemma (Payne) Hughes.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Hughes was employed by Daily News Leader.

He was a member of the Staunton Moose Lodge.

Family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Tim Brooks of Stuarts Draft and Shannon and Patrick Wilt of Lyndhurst; a brother and sister-in-law, James Harold, Jr., and Connie Hughes of Tallahassee, Florida; a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Dennis Fleisher of Staunton; five grandchildren, Kayla Bower, Derek Bower, Hailey Wilt, Brittany Wilt, and Jeffrey Wilt; a step grandson, Brett Bower; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Clinton Anders.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2010, in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Bobby Campbell.

There will be no public viewing or visitation.

Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
