The funeral for Don Graetz will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, at Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Road (½ block east of Route 53), Rolling Meadows, proceeding to St. Colette Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Born in Chicago, Dec. 11, 1926, to Bernard and Grace (Hagberg) Graetz, he died Dec. 7, 2010, at his home. Don married Paula Syoen in October 1947, in Chicago. They moved to Rolling Meadows in 1955, where they raised their family. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He was a Rolling Meadows police officer for 20 years. After retiring from the police department, he worked for School District #15 for 10 years. Don was an avid computer user over the last 20 years. Surviving are his children, Karen (Bob) Campo, Pat (Curt) Erickson, Chuck (Nancy) Graetz, Kathy (Milan) Norum, Janet (Kurt) Schumacher and Gregg (Laurie) Graetz; grandchildren, Megan (Brent) Hendricks, Sara (Steve) Schweigert, Danielle (Steve) Williamson, Jill Campo, Melissa Graetz, Heather Graetz, Kristin Graetz, Stephanie Norum, Justin Graetz, Jeff Campo, Jackie Schumacher, Kelly Schumacher and Lisa Norum; great-grandchildren, Beth Hendricks, Lucia Hendricks, Lee Schweigert, Elsie Schweigert and Ben Williamson; brother, Edward (Gloria) Graetz; nephew, Mike (Melissa) Graetz; and many cousins.
