Petrunia Lebied, 85, of Syracuse, died December 6, 2010 at James Square after suffering a stroke on November 20, 2010. Petrunia "Pat" was of Ukrainian heritage born in Poland, July 18, 1925. As a very young girl, Petrunia survived internship during World War II. After the war, she married Wasyl Lebied then came to the United States in 1951 with two small children. Petrunia and Wasyl celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary earlier this year. Petrunia had lived in Syracuse since 1953. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Survivors: her husband, Wasyl; a son, Peter (Holly) Lebied; and a daughter, Olga (Steve) Scheidel; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday 9:30 a.m. from the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment will be in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home 1609, W. Genesee St. The Panakhyda service will be held Thursday 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
