"Charity L. Council, 90, 947 S. Main, died Sunday, 16 September 1990, at Cherry Street Annex. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, 22 September, in the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with the Rev. R.C. Bell officiating. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery by Maxey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Council was born 15 June 1900 [sic], in Lamar County, a daughter of George and Alice Thomas Brown. She attended Lamar County schools and was a member of the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Harry Bettes Council; two sons, Earnest Council of Paris and Rudolph Council of Paris; four daughters, Alene Nelson of Fort Smith, Ark., Naomi Henderson of Brookston, Sara Ruth Corsey of Paris, and Mattie Donaldson of Paris; one brother, the Rev. B. Brown of San Antonio, seven grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren."
