Jacob Carl Daughtry

Metter - Jacob Carl Daughtry, 100, died Monday, May 24, 2010, at Cedar Plantation. He was born September 11, 1909 in what was then Emanuel County, and later became Candler County in 1921 and has lived here all of his life. Mr. Carl was the oldest member of the Metter Primitive Church, former chairman of Candler County Commissioners, an author having published several books including, My Trip to China and Chips & Jokes. He was a retired farmer, a member of The Cattle Man's Association, former County Agent of Mt. Vernon, and a former teacher.

Everyone enjoyed celebrating Mr. Carl's 100th birthday at Cedar Plantation where the highlight was him sharing one of his favorite jokes.

Survivors: Son, Randy (Kathleen) Daughtry, Granddaughters, Debbie (Billy) McNure, Dana (Tony) Durden, Becky Daughtry, Beverly (Eddie) Williams, Great-Grandchildren, Brittany, Seth, Suzanne, Brent, Randon and Aubrey.

Funeral services will be 5:00 Thursday, May 27, 2010 in the chapel with visitation to begin 3:00, also on Thursday. Burial will be in the Lake Cemetery.
