John B. Fairbanks, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed from this life to join his beloved Savior on Tuesday, August 20. His passing leaves a great void, but his legacy and influence will be felt forever.

He leaves behind his dearly loved wife of 58 years, June Herrmann Fairbanks, his daughter Joan Fairbanks Reynolds, her husband James B. Reynolds, and their children Taylor William (Sophie), Abigail, Alexander Hamilton (Fiancee, Carley), Sallee, and Morgan Joseph Reynolds; his son John B. Fairbanks IV, his wife Karren Oreno Fairbanks, and their children John B. Fairbanks V. (Denise), Ryan William Fairbanks (Jerica), Angelique Fairbanks, Terry Naylor (Renee) and Zen Naylor; and his daughter Jill Fairbanks Muir, her husband Scott Muir, and their children Sarah Maria, Katherine Anne, and Jonathan Fairbanks Muir. He is also survived by and Carolyn Barrani and her family.

John was the last surviving son of pioneer artist John B. Fairbanks and Florence Gifford. He was a brother of noted artists, J. Leo and Avard T. Fairbanks.

His survived by two sisters, Florence Cope (Jim) Spanish Fork, and Nellie Delise, Orem, Ut.

John was an accomplished businessman. He had several patents issued to him and had started and successfully managed several businesses. He was a gifted salesman, and we all believed that he could sell sand in the desert. We adored his sense of adventure and love of children.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many positions, but first and foremost he was an example of love and service. Words cannot express his family's love for this great man. His final thoughts and words expressed his gratitude for the Lord's gospel and his love for his family.

Services will be held Saturday, August 24 at 12:00 noon in the Olympus Second Ward chapel on 3070 Nila Way in Holladay. Friends and family may wish to visit one hour prior to the services.
