OBITUARY

Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church for Mrs. O. C. COWAN, who passed away at her home on March 20, 1952, last the age of 85 years, 10 months and 25 days. The Rev. A. A. Kendall, pastor of the church, officiated.

Mrs. COWAN had been ill for the past eight years and had been bedfast since May 9, 1945. She had been a faithful member of the Methodist church since she was eleven years old and was a charter member of the Rebekah lodge and the Woodman circle.

Mrs. COWAN will long be remembered for her charming Christian life, genuine friendliness and her unique ability to meet people.

Mrs. Loretta COWAN was born at Tomkinsville, Kentucky on April 25, 1866. She came to Texas with her family in 1868. She was married to O. C. COWAN from Godley, Texas in November of 1899.

Mrs. COWAN was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away March 19, 1922, and by a daughter who died in infancy.

She is survived by two sons, R. H.COWAN of Lipscomb and Orlando COWAN of Canadian, and by one step-son, A. L. COWAN of Oklahoma City; by one brother, Jimmie DUNCAN of Cleburne, Texas; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Frank CHAMBERS, Tom CONATSER, E. C. FISHER, Garland PILKINGTON, Ed HOOVER, and H. R. MILLER. The first five were chosen from a list found in her safety deposit box of members of a Sunday school class she used to teach, with a notation to choose her pallbearers from the list.

Burial was made in the Canadian cemetery.
