Sgt. R L Franks Dies at Age 32
Military rites were accorded S/Sgt. Robert Lee Franks of Houston, who died at 12:43 pm, Saturday, May 11, at Walter Reid Hospital, Washington, D C. He was 32 and a Vietnam veteran.
Funeral services were conducted from the Houston First Methodist Church at 3 pm, Tuesday, May 14, with the Rev. Ira Bright and Rev. John Bowie officiating. Interment was in Memorial Gardens with Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Sgt. Franks, who was born in Houston Oct. 22, 1935, was the son of Vester E Franks and Vivian Nabors Franks, both natives of this county. Sgt. Franks had been stationed at Fort Gordon, Ga.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eloise Houser Franks; two daughters, Pamala Gail Franks, and Angela Lynn Franks; a sister, Mrs. Mamie Neal of Houston; his parents of Houston; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Franks of Houston, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Jesse Nabors of Houston.
