Rose S. McMahon, 98, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2007, a resident of Our Lady of Hope Health Center. She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 62 years, Joseph J. "Joe" McMahon; her Priest Brother, Reverend Gabriel Stupasky, O.S.B., of Belmont Abbey, Belmont, N.C., where he is buried; four brothers, Joseph, Stephen, Frank and Anthony; and one sister, Ann S. Walter. Father Gabriel married his sister Rose to Joe McMahon, June 14, 1941, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Joe and Rose sang in the choir at St. Benedict's until they moved west to St. Bridget's Catholic Church, for ten years, until St. Mary's Catholic Church was established, and attended Mass there until 1999. Mrs. McMahon is survived by her supportive and beloved son, Joseph John McMahon Jr., and his dear and helpful wife, Ruth Zimm McMahon; three loving grandchildren, Josie, Jeremy, and Jordana McMahon; one sister, Helen S. Shulleeta; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, and especially a very dear friend, Mrs. Jeanne Temps, an active member in Presbyterian Women at Third Presbyterian Church in Richmond. Mrs. McMahon enjoyed classical music, studied voice and piano for years. Prior to World War II, she and her husband sang in musical organizations for enjoyment. Her husband was a World War II Veteran. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road. Her remains will rest in the church one hour prior to Mass. Interment will follow at the family plot, located in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1400 S. Randolph St.
