Hammond Sather 1914-1981

Hammond Sather, 66, rural Gonvick, died Saturday, August 15 at Pine Lake Township.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick with Rev. Richard Lafer officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Cease Funeral Home of Bagley.
Mr. Sather was born November 3, 1914 at Gully to John and Ann Sather. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Lund Lutheran Church. Mr. Sather was raised in Gully. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army from 1943 to 1945.
He was married to Marie Faldet on September 22, 1945 at Bagley. They lived in Duluth and he moved to the Gonvick area in 1974.
Mr. Sather is survived by his wife, Marie; one sister Jennie Dvorak of Grand Forks, North Dakota; three brothers, Peter Alvin of International Falls, Ingolf G. of Anoka, and Lloyd of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
