MRS. CORNELIA PLEASANTS BELL passed away in Houston Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. Her long and useful life has been an inspiration to all who knew her. She was born in 1849 on the place just west of Richmond where Mr. & Mrs. S. W. Davis now reside. Her parents were Mary Jane Brush Pleasants and George W. Pleasants. They came to Texas when it was still a part of Mexico. Shortly after the Civil War she was married to Frank T. Bell. To this union were born six children. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Willie Ransom of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Emma West of San Antonio; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The remains were brought to the home of Mrs. Frank Bell, a daughter-in-law, where a large group of friends & relatives were gathered in sorrow over their loss. Mrs. Bell has been a member of the Richmond Methodist Church for more than 80 years, and had resided in Richmond practically all of her life.

Mrs. Bell was born at Richmond 95 years ago, the daughter of George Wahsington and Jane Pleasants. Her father fought in the Battle of San Jacinto and her husband, the late Frank T. LaFayette Bell, was a soldier in the Confederate Army. At the time she left Richmond for Houston, she was the oldest native in the county. In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Ransom, Mrs. Bell is survived by a sister, Mrs. Emma West of San Antonio.
