Based on the historic events of 1918, and cause of death listed as "broncho-pneumonia / influenza", it is quite likely he died from the Spanish Flu pandemic. The second wave of the flu hit the U.S. during the fall, when WWI soldiers were coming home and others being deployed to Europe. During the height of the fall spread, 112 of Galveston's citizens died from influenza — most were adults aged 20 to 50.
