Thomas Newton Turnipseed was born January 5, 1877 in Bullock County, Alabama. His parents were T. N. Turnipseed, Sr. and Josephine Denson. He married Jewell Estella Miears December 23, 1900 in Lafayette County, Arkansas. Jewel Estella, born March 25, 1882 in Nevada County, Arkansas, was the daughter of Lorenzo A. Miears and Missouri Lee "Zula" Weathers. Jewell Turnipseed died December 30, 1926. Tom later married Leona Roberta "Bobbie" McClellan. Bobbie was the daughter of Robert Cosby McClellan and Mary Elizabeth Williams. Tom Turnipseed died May 17, 1953 and is buried beside his first wife, Jewell, in Mt. Nebo Cemetery in south Hempstead County, Arkansas. His second wife, Leona Roberta "Bobbie", is also interred nearby.
