Kankakee Daily Journal of February 17, 1919 (page 1): Aged resident dies Saturday at his home on West Station Street. Celestine Bourelle, an aged and well known resident of this city died Saturday (Feb 15) afternoon at 12:40 o'clock at his home 508 West Station Street. He had been ill for some time. He leaves his wife and several children."
And February 19 (page 9): "The funeral of the last Celestin Bourelle who died Saturday morning was conducted yesterday at St. Rose church and burial was in Mr. Calvary cemetery. He was born at St. Pierre, Canada, April 1, 1840, and lived there until he was 15 years old. Then he came to the United States with his parents and settled at St. George (a tiny little French Canadian settlement, complete with church, a few miles northeast of Kankakee). At the age of 23 he was married to Celina Ponton. Shortly afterwards he and his wife moved to Indiana with their family, where they resided for 26 years. After that they moved to Kankakee and have lived here ever since. The deceased is survived by his wife and the following children: Joseph and Frank, of Texas; Phillip, of Kankakee; Mrs. William St. John and Mrs. Prosper Senesac, of Earl Park, Indiana; Mrs. Deloucia Garreau of Indianapolis; Mrs. Charles Durocher of Kankakee; Mrs. Gust Dionne of Chicago Heights; Mrs. E.E. Bourdreau of Bourdonnais. He also leaves two brothers----Basil of Nebraska and Jerry of Bourbonnais, 39 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild." regarding his funeral.
