William Amos Ray, son of Francis and Nancy Ray was born at Kingston, Ind., January 18, 1845, and died at his home in Sharpsville July 10, 1919.

He was married to Amy Trundler (sic) November 29, 1865. Five children were born to them: Mrs. Lizzie Shumbers, Sharpsville; Mrs. Ella Bockover, Tipton; Albert, Clarksburg; two dying in infancy. He was a veteran of the Civil War and a member of the Presbyterian church at Clarksburg.

He leaves a widow and three children, 13 grandchildren, one great-grandson, one sister, Mrs Amanda Marlin, of Nebraska; four brothers, James, David, Emmitt and Edgar; two brothers dead, George and John; other relatives and friends.

The funeral and burial Sunday, July 13, 1919 at three o'clock at his home in Sharpsville, with burial at Sharpsville cemetery.

ATTEND FUNERAL OF FORMER LOCAL MAN

A number of local people attended the funeral of Amos Ray Sunday afternoon at Sharpsville. Those going from Greensburg and vicinity were James Ray, Batesville; Mrs. George Ray and Mrs. Sam Riley, Greensburg; Albert Ray and wife, Clarksburg; Lon Ray, Kingston; Marshal and Harry Ray, Milroy; Miss Mildred Bockover, Miss Mary Fering, Batesville. Amos Ray was born and reared in Decatur county, and had a number of friends and relatives in the county.
