Born in Tupper Lake on July 28, 1923, he was the son of Andrew and Rose (Peets) Miller.
He attended Holy Ghost Academy. He went to work as a young man at the Peets' farm and as a lumberman.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in July of 1944 during WWII. He served in the European/Asian theaters. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945.
Mr. Miller was married to Mary Jane LaJoie on August 28, 1946 at St. Joseph's Chapel in Tupper Lake. They recently celebrated their 53rd anniversary. They raised their family in Tupper Lake.
Mr. Miller worked for many years for Frechette Construction in Tupper Lake. He later worked for Murnane Construction on the Saranac Lake High School until his retirement in 1979. During his retirement he enjoyed working as caretaker for camps on Charland Road and Lake Clear areas.
He was a regular member of the "Stewart's Coffee Club."
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; two sons, Ronald and his wife, Nancy of Payson, Arizona; Terry and his wife, Louise of Tupper Lake; one daughter, Marilee Strack and her husband Larry of Middleburgh, NY; three sisters, Rita Paddock and her husband Andrew of Massachusetts and Florida, Eva Villeneuve and her husband Harvey of Berlin, NH, and Beulah Martin and her husband Gilbert of Tupper Lake; three brothers, Thomas Miller and his wife Helen of Tupper Lake, Alfred and his wife Judy of Tupper Lake and Clifford Miller and his wife, Pat of Plattsburgh.
He was predeceased by one sister, Bea Brockway.
Calling hours were held Monday, November 8 at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass was held Tuesday, November 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake, with Fr. Donald Kramberg officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
