Mrs. McKinney Dies; School Principal's Wife
Mrs. Virginia Pirl McKinney, 48, wife of Ventura High School Vice Principal William McKinney, died last night in her home, 4218 Varsity St., Ventura, after a long illness of a heart ailment. Born June 6, 1917 in East McKeesport, Pa., Mrs. McKinney had lived in Ventura since 1952, coming from Fillmore where her husband had been a coach and teacher in Fillmore High School. She had worked four years as a secretary at the San Bernardino YMCA before moving to Fillmore. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Ventura. She is also survived by daughters, Elaine Louise, 16, and Kathryn Ann 20, both at home; sister, Mrs. Wilda Leonard, Albuquerque, N.M., and her step-mother Mrs. Ann Pirl of Lincoln, Neb. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Ventura, with the Rev. W. A. Gilbert officiating; Dorothy Wilson, organist. Interment will be in Bardsdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Edward Nemsom, Wayne Simpson, Robert Tuttle, Charles Newman, Harry Bigger and James Saunders. Friends may call at the Ted Mayr Funeral Chapel, Ventura. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Ventura County Heart Association.
