Jasper Icenogle, age 95, of Macomb, and formerly of Oquawka, IL; passed away at 6:45 pm on November 28th at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb, IL. Jasper was born on July 9, 1915 on a farm near Joy, Illinois. He is the son of Grover Cleveland and Mary Jane Everhart Icenogle. Jasper was raised on a farm near Little York, Illinois where he attended rural schools. He was married to Erma Ruth Hanning on March 11, 1939 in Burlington, Iowa. She preceded him on September 2, 1992. Jasper was a life long farmer in Henderson County near Oquawka. He was known to be one of the last farmers in the area to farm using a team of horses. He loved his horses and his farming and also loved covered bridges. He also enjoyed traveling and playing golf locally. In later years he enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches. Surviving Jasper is his son Roger (Karen) Icenogle of Industry, Illinois, his grandson Adam T. Icenogle of Deland, FL, and granddaughter Ashley O'Neill Icenogle Potter (Jake) of Princeville, IL. Two Great Granddaughters Olivia and Zoe Potter of Princeville, Illinois. Jasper's sister Norma Brown (Keith) of Henderson, Illinois and brother Marion W. "Buck" Icenogle (Patricia) of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Jasper is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, three brothers and six sisters.
Services: A funeral service for him will be at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth on Friday November 3, 2010 at 10:30 am. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth, IL. His family plans to be at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth for the hour prior to the service 9:30 to 10:30 am on Friday. A memorial fund is being established for "The Elms" nursing home in Macomb, Illinois.
