Loving Husband and Father. Born to Grover Cleveland & Mary Jane (Everhart) Icenogle. Married F. Louise Albert on 12/24/1947. They farmed outside Galesburg, IL. They had 5 children - Karen, Ruth, Rose, Gail & Robert. Prior to marriage, Ike joined the Army Air Corp and held the position of Gunnery Sargent. He participated in the Battle of the Buldge and was in Pompaii when Vesuvius let his presence be know during Mach 17 to March 23, 1944. To say he had a close call would be an understatement! His bunkmate talked him into going to eat. When they returned to his bunk there was a chunk of lava where Dad's sternum would have been!
Our parents looked for a higher, dryer climate in which to raise their family. Colorado Springs, CO was the lucky place!
Our parents were married just 33 short years before Dad passed away. I don't remember ever making Dad mad, (but did get "the Dad look") when it was obvious we had disappointed him! Nearly every girl wants to grow up to marry a guy just like her Dad. Thanks to my sister Rosey, I did just that! She met Terry and said "You have to met my sister Gail, she introduced us the next night! As Dad and Mom were raising their children Dad was busy with his own company hanging drywall, siding and roofing all the tract homes going up in Colorado Springs. Due to health issues, the retired to a small town in Arkansas (for which I will never forgive Jimmy Akers for his part in convincing then to move). Mom and Dads property abetted National Forest. A small fire broke out on our property and Dad and Robert did everything in their power to extinguish it until Dad lost consciousness. Rob and others met the ambulance partway to town but Dad did not regain consciousness. He died of a massive cardiac infarction. As of March 2019 there is one living Icenogle sibling.
